I've started brewing kombucha...what is it, you ask? When I say 'brewing' I realize people may think this is like beer, or wine...but it's non-alcoholic. It is a fermented tea drink. It helps immune function, digestion, energy levels, and aids you liver in removing harmful substances from your body. See more here (http://www.foodrenegade.com/kombucha-health-benefits/ ). You can make it in just about any flavor, and it gets fizzy! The kids love it and it's a tasty alternative to drinking lots of fruit juice, pop, or other unhealthy beverage choices. The kids even helped pick the flavors this time and watched/helped with the whole process. You can buy kombucha in the store...but it's nearly $4/bottle (16 oz). Brewing our own at home we can make it for pennies per pint...it's so easy, and fun!
Today we made blueberry, lemon ginger, raspberry, apple, and raspberry lemon. I'm excited to try a cherry vanilla, but forgot to get any cherries...next time :)
Here's our latest batch:
