Conversations with kids

Story #1
Charlotte and I were reading a book...for those of you who know and love Sandra Boynton you'll appreciate this:

Me: "A cow says...." (I pause, waiting for a response, even though she's NEVER said it)

Charlotte: (blank stare)

Me: "Moooooo" (in my best cow voice)
Me: A sheep says (I pause, waiting for a response, even though she's NEVER said it)

Charlotte: Baaaahhhh!!

Out of nowhere she says it perfectly! It was so funny we had to go find Daddy and repeat the event about 10 times. It's her first animal sound :)

Story #2
In another situation, I was reading books with Mason yesterday at bedtime, laying in bed with him. Daddy usually does this, but he was doing some work outside so Mason was tolerating stories from Mom. Matt comes inside, comes into the bedroom and crashes in bed with me and Mason (mind you it's a TWIN bed, so we're pretty squished). Mason looks at me and says;

"Mommy, you can go ni'-night in your bed. Your bed is upstairs." So I kiss him goodnight and decide to give him a few minutes with Daddy. As I exit the room, Mason says "I want to play with YOU, Daddy."

Sigh, maybe someday my son will love me :)
