bad luck??

After yesterday morning's post about God's peace...my afternoon yesterday was anything but peaceful!

First, I was going out to lunch with some friends and tripped on the cement step outside of IBM...HUGE scrape and goose-egg on my shin - OUCH!!!! It's pretty ugly. All I could say was "At least I didn't fall on my face and knock a tooth out!"

Then I go home, Jennie (our nanny) and Mason had made brownies...yummy! The pan of brownies was on the stove, sitting on the back burner while I was using the rest of the burners to make dinner. I was going to make some pasta so I turned the front burner on HIGH. A few minutes later - CRACK!!! There was glass EVERYWHERE! I tried to figure out what was going on...it took me a minute until I realized there were flames coming from the back burner...the brownies were on fire! Apparently I had turned on the WRONG burner, the pyrex pan the brownies were in exploded (not just cracked...we're talking shards of glass all over the kitchen and foyer), once the pan was gone, the brownies landed right on the burner and caught fire. Ugh...thankfully Mason was an angel and went upstairs to play with his sister while I spent the next 30 minutes cleaning up.

We had sandwiches for dinner instead of pasta :)

So breaking a mirror is 7 years of bad luck...what about shattering a pyrex dish all over your kitchen?

that sounds like something i would do!! it's kind of funny, really - starting a fire with brownies.....! and falling down in public - that's always tough :)

YIKES! Hadn't heard about that one yet! While I know its not "ha, ha funny" Sterling and I had a good laugh (only because no one got hurt). I did almost cry, though, thinking about all those inedible brownies - whaaa!!! Between this and the little trip you took yesterday I think you should try being a little more careful!!

Actually, I guess you tripped on the step today, not yesterday. What a day! You are right though - at least you didn't knock out a tooth or break any screen doors (he he!)...
