We chose to not celebrate the extremely commercialized holiday this year with cards and gifts, but we all still enjoyed a special day! Mason brought his Wild Animal valentines (bears, tigers, apes, lions, cheetahs, and wolves) to school today, and handed them out to all his friends, it was really cute.
Matt and I both got home early to spend some time with the kids. Matt brought home sour gummy worms for Mason, and chocolates for me and Charlotte. We had hot dogs and macaroni and cheese for dinner, then a heart-shaped fruit pizza with strawberries and blueberries on for dessert. YUMMY! The kids didn't even like the sugar cookie crust, they just ate the berries off the top and asked for more! They did, however, get plenty of OTHER sugar in them throughout the course of the day. I wonder if they'll ever sleep tonight....
My favorite part of Valentine's Day this year:
The last couple of days Mason has been asking everyone "What is your favorite animal?" Everyone has their favorite, but I consistently answered the question "I like fishies."
This morning he's sitting at the breakfast table, looking at the lion valentine I let him open last night and he says to me "Mommy, what's your favorite...ummm...I wonder if we have any fishy valentines?" It was SO sweet! Made my day :)
