I've learned a lot about the flu in the last 12 hours! The antiviral medicine (Tamiflu) typically shortens the duration of the flu by 1.3 days if taken at the first onset of symptoms. Mason's first symptoms started last night during the night, and by 1pm today he had his first dose of meds, so I'm hoping that will help.
What I didn't know is that Tamiflu is 70% - 90% effective at preventing the flu when taken as a prophylactic. Soooooo....the rest of us (excluding Isaac) started on Tamiflu tonight as well (getting ahold of all the right doctors and getting the prescriptions filled was no small feat!). Hopefully the rest of us won't get it!!! Isaac is too little to take Tamiflu, but at least with the rest of us on it his chances of getting it will be minimal.
Mason's temp was 104 degrees this afternoon, and he's pretty miserable. Poor boy!!!
