Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day! Being a mother is so much more amazing than anyone can put into words. Sometimes I think about all I do for my kids and I realize it is all these things that my mother did for me - helping me learn how to use my fork, wiping my nose, changing my diaper, tucking me in bed, playing with me, reading to me, etc. It wasn't until I became a parent that I realized how much I appreciate all my Mom has done for me...and all Matt's Mom did for him to shape him into the person he is. "Mother" is more than a title, it's a calling, a challenge, and a blessing. Sometimes when I'm feeling under-appreciated, when all my hard work seems to go unrecognized, I just remember - God is watching. Motherhood isn't a corporate job that gives you raises, bonuses, or promotions for hard work and ambition...but getting paid in smiles, hugs, and kisses is much better anyway :)

I think it's fun to know what our kids think of us as a mother. Mason's teachers at preschool asked each child about their mother and used a sheet in which the kids had to fill in the words to describe their mother. Here's Mason's about me (if you can't read on it, click on it and it will get bigger).

Here's is Charlotte's Mother's Day artwork from school...notice how she wrote her own name on the bottom! :)
