Julie's back in the hospital. Her doctor says her cervix is changing...75% effaced and 1 cm dilated (although the nurse says 2-3cm). Her contractions were pretty consistent this afternoon, and she has stopped taking the procardia and the doc has now put her on oral terbutaline. This is a short term solution since terbutaline will raise her blood sugars (and she's gestationally diabetic). So the plan is to have her on it for a couple days, then try the procardia again.
For now, the oral terbutaline seems to be working. Please pray it stays that way! There hasn't been any talk yet of putting her back on the magnesium sulfate, but I'm sure if the terbutaline stops working and the procardia still doesn't work that's what they'll do.
She's 33 weeks tomorrow, so just a few more weeks would make the difference between a baby with a significant hospital stay and potential issues vs. one Julie may be able to take home with her a few days after delivery!
Please PRAY, PRAY, PRAY for Julie and little Josie!
