I woke up with my first contraction at 11:15pm on Saturday, June 23rd. I managed to try and sleep in between contractions until 1:15am when I told Matt to wake up - I would need him soon (I'm not sure he ever even went to sleep!)
I called Patti to come over to stay with the kids, and Kim to come over as she was going to help support me during labor & delivery. I managed contractions well at home, they finally were around 5 minutes apart by the time we left for the hospital at 3:15am.
We settled in to the hospital and found I was 5cm dilated, 80% effaced. I had guessed I wouldn't yet be 6cm. We then walked a little bit, as much as my aching back could stand, then I sat on the birth ball for a while. Contractions were sporadic at times, but eventually I knew things were picking up - they started right on top of each other and were VERY intense. Thankfully, Matt and Kim were there to help me remember to control my breathing and around 6:45am, I was 9cm! I had the doc break my water and then it was time to push. Baby came quickly, only two contractions or so before Isaac glided into his Daddy's hands and was placed on Mommy's chest. I immediately noticed he was a boy! We were overwhelmed and overjoyed to finally meet our son, Isaac Matthew.

Sonia, would you take a nap already! :) I love the pictures, they are great! And you are truly amazing, no drugs and only 2 contractions before he came into the world! Congrats again!

OK . . . I'm crying again just thinking about how emotional you & Matt were during those first few moments after Isaac arrived. You have no idea how happy I am for you both! Not to mention, Mason's & Charlotte's initial reactions of pure love & joy were absolutely perfect! You all have to be just walking on air today, having Isaac home with you all for the first time. Hope your first night at home goes well. Please call if you need any help with anything! And, again, congratulations!
