Isaac's favorite color is red. At least, that's the color of the Christmas tree light he ATE!! Yes, he ATE a GLASS Christmas tree light. We have a string of them going down our banister to the dining room...he must have pulled at one until the glass portion of the bulb broke off, then he put it in his mouth. We didn't realize it until we heard him crunching and found the end of the light sticking out of his mouth. We found some shards of the bulb on the floor, but I estimate he ate about 80% of it.
His mouth wasn't bleeding, no visible cuts...no immediate damage, but needless to say, I freaked out! I called the nurse line, but they weren't ANY help...they had no clue what to do and recommended we bring him in to the ER. Before rushing off I decided to call poison control (is it bad I have this number memorized by now?). They said we actually didn't need to bring him in, but to feed him so the glass is packed in something (thankfully Isaac ate his light for dessert so he had a belly full already). Also we should watch for blood in his stool, but that it should pass through with no issues. There is a small amount of lead in the lights, but she said it is minimal and since he ate only one it's no big deal. I had to laugh, I asked the poison control lady "So this isn't the first time you've had to deal with this?" and she said "Oh no, you're not even the first one today!" YIKES! What is it that looks so appetizing about Christmas lights to toddlers?!?
I hope our glass-eating daredevil has no ill effects!

Oh wow! That is a scary/hilarious story! I hope all passes without incident!!!!!
This is so funny! A woman at Celia's dance class was just telling us about her daughter eating a Christmas bulb when she was around 2 years old. The little girl is in Celia's class, so she survived! Good luck on poo watch! :)
YIKES! That little monkey! I have to admit, that is one scenario I never imagined...a toddler eating a lightbulb! I hope whatever he did ingest exits with little drama :)
scary! Timmy's taken to smashing our glass ornaments on the hardwood floor. Bad boy.
