ANOTHER credential

So over the last two weeks, I've taken the classes and have earned another credential. I'm officially a Child Passenger Safety Technician (CPST). What's that? It means I'm certified to inspect car seats, and educate parents on car seat safety. The training was a long FOUR days...yes, four days learning about crash statistics, seat belt systems, the different types of car seats, installation techniques, how to inspect, etc. It included three tests, and three hands-on tests installing/inspecting carseats, plus participation in a community event inspecting car seats.

I learned a lot, and I'm very passionate about car seat safety...our children can't choose safely for themselves because they don't know, so it's our job as parents to keep them safe.

So yes, more knowledge, and another credential...stay tuned, hopefully my childbirth educator certification will be coming the first quarter of next year. Then that's IT for a LONG time!! :)

Cool -- will you e-mail the instructor's contact information? I want to be on her list for her next training session ... Oh, and I'm done with certification births! Now it's just paperwork and then waiting for the final word from DONA ...
