Eat your crust!

My parents always told me (well, I specifically remember my Dad saying this)...

"If you eat the crust on your bread it will help you learn how to whistle!"

So, YES, I've used it on my kids. It seems pretty harmless. To my surprise, this week, Mason (who eats his crust religiously) learned how to whistle, and he is SO PROUD!

Charlotte, on the other hand, NEVER eats her crust...until now. Today for lunch we had grilled cheese. I ate my lunch with the kids, but I spent most of my attention on Isaac, picking up the peas he was throwing on the floor, and dealing with his newest habit of spitting his drink everywhere. I glanced up and noticed Charlotte was eating her crust...ONLY the crust off her grilled cheese, and after each bite, she would stop and see if she could whistle yet. It was SO CUTE, a priceless moment I won't soon forget.

To my children, I'm sorry I've misled you, but mark my words, I bet you use it on your own kids someday! :)

I remember Grandpa saying that to me! So I ate literally half a bag of bread just so I could whistle. Of course, it didn't work and later he admitted it was just a way to get kids to eat their bread. I was crushed.... :)

Have you ever told them to eat the onions because it would put hair on their chest? Ha! That was the line I got when I was a little girl. NO WONDER I never ate onions...
