Nothing new on Isaac's leg today. Isaac is still not putting any weight on it, and he tried standing up last night and he completely collapsed onto the floor. Apparently a toddler's little fractured bone can be very hard to see on x-ray as their bones are so 'pliable'. But I wonder, if they are so pliable what was the SNAP that we heard??
Either way, no new x-rays today...but we can pinpoint based on Isaac's discomfort that his injury is in the lower half of his shin bone. They pulled out the x-rays from Tuesday and looked at them again more closely...and there is not even a hint of a break that they can see. So, we're going back on Monday to his regular pediatrician who is also the best ped. ortho. they've got (he's unfortunately been out all this week!).
The doc today said if they saw a break they would cast it, but since we see no break - no cast. They can apparently x-ray 10-14 days post-injury to see if they can see where a break is healing...that would be the only indication we have that there was a break. However, since Isaac is getting around fine and not putting any weight on it, NOT casting it at this point - even if there is a small break we're not seeing - is absolutely fine.
So, I don't know anything different...and it's quite frustrating, but I have to remember that he's doing fine, and that not casting him isn't going to hurt even if there is a small break. Don't get me wrong, I'm not wishing his leg were broken so he would get a cast, but I do think there is a break they just aren't seeing...why else would he not walk on it AT ALL for 3 days straight??
In other news, Mason is doing better today...his fever is hanging out around 101 degrees, so I'm not medicating him *yet*. Hopefully he's on his way to wellness :)
